The history of shipowning company "Reederei Schepers" dates back to the 19th century. Hermann Kiepe was the first in his "Puntboatvillage" of Haren to build a seagoing puntboat. 10 years he sailed her venturousely 5 times across the Atlantic, transported for example skins and dried meat. Together with his wife Maria (maiden name Schepers) they mastered storms and the perils of the sea. His last vessel - the motorvessel "MARIA" - was the foundation of the shipowning company "Reederei Schepers", which Captain Heinrich Schepers founded in 1953. At his side, his wife Helene, the youngest daughter of Hermann Kiepe.

Today the grandchild of Hermann Kiepe, Engelbert Schepers looks back to almost 50 years of shipping experience. He learnt about shipping from the very start and gained international expert knowledge. His sister Magdalena Schepers-Zeiss is heading as business administrator the financial department of the company since 25 years.

Engelbert Schepers' son Alexander joined the company's team in 2009, having graduated as a shipping economist at university and gained years of experience in London and Hamburg with an internationally operating leading shipping service provider.
